Bethany Platt finally finds out the truth about Kayla Clifton next week but how will she react when she discovers who her best mate’s girlfriend actually is?
Bethany has had her suspicions that there’s something dodgy about Kayla for weeks now, but even she wouldn’t have guessed that her dad is one of the men who groomed and raped her last year.
Neil is currently in jail while Kayla firmly believes that Bethany has lied about her dad and that Neil is the victim in all of this.
Viewers were left stunned last month when Kayla – who was working as a waitress at Speed Dahl and seemed keen on getting to know Craig – paid her dad Neil a visit in prison where he’s serving time for his crimes.
Kayla has been reeling Craig in more and more recently, even taking his virginity to make him fall in love with her while she plotted revenge on Bethany.
She’s been messing with Craig’s head, making him think his OCD isn’t under control and she takes this further next week which leads to her secret being out.
Kayla tells Craig that he doesn’t need to do his checking routine to keep them safe and – trusting her – they head out in her car.
But then Kayla deliberately slams on the brakes, blaming a cat and causing Gail and Audrey to crash into the back of them.
Pretending to be hurt, Kayla tells Craig that it was his rituals that were keeping them safe after all and the smitten teen starts questioning his own mental health, even insisting on going to hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile Audrey is horrified to learn that the car she hit is registered to a Marsha Clifton. Will she get word to Bethany in time?
Bethany worries when she hears that Craig has missed the police medical he was due to have and heads over to Kayla’s house to find him and grill him.
But when she gets there, Kayla lets her in and she spots a picture of her with Neil.
Horrified, the pieces all begin to fall into place for Bethany as she realises exactly who Kayla is. But is she in danger?
Corrie fans were left stunned on Friday when Kayla pinched Craig’s keys and let herself into his flat, turning the gas on, before leaving again.
Rana and Kate were very nearly caught in the crossfire as they entered the gas-filled flat but quick thinking Rana stopped Kate from switching on a light and turning the place into a fireball.
When they confronted Craig later he was confused, promising them he’d done his checks.
But when he called on Kayla to back him up, she said she wasn’t sure as she hadn’t been watching him properly.
So we know full well what Kayla is capable of. And so does Mollie Winnard who plays her.
In an interview with the Radio Times, Mollie spoke about her character’s campaign, saying: “When Neil loses his appeal that is the moment everything switches for Kayla.

“Her plan is back on. She believes Craig knows Bethany lied about Neil and that he can’t cope with it, and that is what has triggered his OCD so she is trying to bring it back up. […] She is definitely messing with Craig.
“Anyone who gets in her way is in danger,” she warned.
