Kym Marsh has spoken out about Coronation Street co-star Brooke Vincent’s remarks during the Dancing On Ice finale.
Brooke finished second on the ITV competition and, after sending her congratulations to winner Jake Quickenden, quipped: “Are you sure it’s not a fix?”
The soap star was joking but some viewers weren’t too impressed.

One tweeted: “Has anyone ever said that at the end of a reality competition before? That was so rude. If it was an attempt at humour, it really was not funny.”
Another said: “You’re sure it’s not a fix …….Did Brooke really just say that ? ……No love you just weren’t in his class.”
However, Brooke’s Corrie co-star Kym Marsh has now jumped to her defence.
Writing in her latest OK! magazine column, Kym said her pal “was quite clearly joking”.
“That’s Brooke humour – it was just a sarcastic comment! She’s lovely and she’s not mean at all. If she actually meant it, she wouldn’t have said it on live telly!
“It’s obvious she was joking and she isn’t a sore loser- I can’t believe anyone took it seriously or was actually offended by it!”
Brooke herself also told the mag: “I’m a very sarcastic person and I like to have a laugh – I was messing around. Jake is very similar to me so he totally understood it was a joke.
“He was the better skater, there’s no way I deserved to win over him.
While some people weren’t sure if Brooke was being serious or not, many others took to Twitter to say it was clear she was just having a laugh.
One wrote: “99% of the British public not understanding that when Brooke said ‘are you sure it’s not a fix’ she was joking.”
Another said: “Leave Brooke alone she was clearly joking about her fix comments.”
A third added: “All these people slamming Brooke for saying it’s a fix when she was clearly joking bet you couldn’t even stand on the ice never mind do a full routine pipe down.”
Brooke and her skating partner Matej Silecky finished in second place on Dancing On Ice 2018.
They were pipped to the post by former I’m A Celebrity and X Factor star Jake Quickenden, who won the show with his partner Vanessa Bauer.
Although Brooke didn’t win, she has credited Dancing On Ice with changing her life.

She told Manchester Evening News: “This show has changed my life. I gave up smoking and I got myself in order and I’m just like ‘I can handle this.’ This is my first competition ever and I’m so proud with how I’ve dealt with the pressure.”
Well done, Brooke!
