Kym Marsh reveals annoyance after shop refused to sell her wine

She was annoyed, not flattered!

Kym Marsh has revealed her annoyance at being asked for ID while trying to buy wine at a train station.

The Coronation Street actress, 42, wrote in her weekly OK! Magazine column she couldn’t believe it when staff at the station supermarket asked for proof of her age two years ago.

She spoke out after former Countdown star Carol Vorderman revealed last week she’d been asked for ID before buying booze despite being just three years shy of 60.

Kym wrote: “Carol’s 57 and she looks great but she doesn’t look underage to buy alcohol! Neither do I and the same thing happened to me two years ago at Manchester train station.

“I thought it was ridiculous. I was like, ‘come on now, don’t be silly – look at me! Stop taking the Michael’.

“I wasn’t flattered, I was just annoyed I couldn’t buy the wine!”

While Kym wasn’t happy at being asked for ID, television presenter Carol was absolutely thrilled!

She gleefully tweeted last week: “Omg… I’ve just been asked for ID ‘cos I was buying wine in Marks and Spencer. M&S, you’ve just made an old bird VERY happy. Lol.”

Meanwhile, Kym also wrote about trolling in her latest OK! Magazine column, after she spoke out to defend former Queen of the Jungle Scarlett Moffatt, 28,  against nasty remarks.

The former Hear’Say singer said she couldn’t understand why some people “go out of their way to be so unkind” and said it brought back memories of being bullied in her own childhood.

“It’s bullying and it takes me right back to when I was bullied as a kid. It happened a lot in senior school and those years were terrible. I got picked on for my looks and because I was perhaps more underdeveloped then some girls.

“It was also because I wasn’t as interested in going behind the bike shed with some of the boys. I just wasn’t with the ‘in-crowd’.”

Kym has often spoken out against trolling and how she’s suffered in the past.

She’s previously taken breaks from social media to remove herself from the negativity and has said she encourages new Coronation Street castmembers not to be disheartened if they read unkind comments.

During an interview on Loose Women last year, the soap star also revealed how trolls have previously set up fake social media accounts under her children’s names.

Kym explained how eldest daughter Emilie, 21, was left distressed by one particular account.

“There was one on a dating website claiming that she was bisexual and wanted to meet girls,” said Kym.

“That, to me, is terrifying. Who is that person? That could be a guy who is trying to meet young girls or a woman. This just terrified me. This went on and on and she was getting really distressed. Things were being said about her that weren’t true.”
