Laura Whitmore falls victim to Catfishing … after confirming Love Island romance

Laura Whitmore has been left shocked after discovering an audacious faker has been using her photos on a dating website.

It takes a lot of nerve to pass off someone else’s pictures as your own – but even more so when the person you choose to copy happens to be pretty famous…

Former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here NOW! host Laura took to Twitter to reveal she’d been contacted by baffled strangers claiming they’d come across ‘her’ profile on dating app Tinder.

The only problem? Well, Laura’s not on Tinder.

Oh, and she also happens to be dating hunky Love Island narrator Iain Stirling….

Laura tweeted a photo of the fake profile, which included the bio: “Laura, 32. Presenter at MTV UK. Dublin City University.”

She told fans: “I’ve had 4 people today tell me I’ve shown up on their tinder. NOT on tinder and never have been. Anyone matched with this profile? #catfish.”

While none of the followers who replied to Laura’s plea had actually been on Tinder, plenty called it “creepy”.

One added: “I wonder if anyone was gullible enough to think it was actually you?”

Another said: “Lol I bet some boys thought their dreams had come true.”

As Laura said, she’s never been on Tinder – and actually has no need for a dating app given she’s currently all smitten with Love Island narrator Iain.

They went public with their romance in August, after rumours of a relationship began swirling the previous month.

Confirming her romance to The Sun, she simply said: “Yeah he’s my boyfriend. He’s lovely.

“I’ve got him as my screensaver. I’ve known him for ages.”

They’ve just enjoyed a romantic holiday to New York together, sharing a cute selfie of themselves kissing with the skyline in the background.

And Laura and Iain recently got the seal of approval from former Love Island star Olivia Buckland, who used her weekly mag column to give their coupling a thumbs up.

She wrote in New magazine: “I knew they were seeing each other a while ago and we all kept it quiet. They are so cute together and the most adorable couple.

“Iain always jokes that Alex [Bowen] and I are #couplegoals – but he and Laura are now!”
