Former One Direction star Liam Payne has opened up about the time Cheryl, 33, nearly ended their relationship.
In a podcast Liam admitted their relationship was not easy to start with and he had to convince the former Girls Aloud singer that “it will work out”.
The star revealed he used the moment as the basis for one of the singles from his upcoming solo album.

He said: “There’s one song that is basically a phone call that happened between me and her when she was about to let it go.
“This is a long time ago. And it’s basically me trying to cling on and say: ‘No, no, no it’s all going to work out, don’t worry about it, give it time.”
And it seems his efforts paid off as the two are now parents to their adorable baby boy, Bear.
But despite their relationship being stronger than ever Liam, 23, has revealed he isn’t planning on tying the knot with Chezza.
Speaking to The Sun, Liam admitted: “I see marriage as more of a religious thing and I’m not really a religious person, so I know it’s not really on the cards for me at the moment.
“So no, not yet. We have a baby together — you know our love for each other can’t be more serious so it is what it is I guess.”
Meanwhile Liam told fans his little tot Bear might feature in one of his songs on his new solo album.

Despite not being able to actually speak yet Liam revealed Bear could feature in a song by having his heartbeat recorded into the track.
How cute!
He told KIIS FM in Los Angeles: “I made it into, like, a drum beat.
“It’s super cool. We haven’t really fit it with any song yet but, I mean, there’s a chance of it.”
In other news Liam joked he is “still angry” at Cheryl for not giving him a standing ovation after his audition on the X Factor.
The star auditioned for the show for a second time seven years ago with his rendition of Cry Me A River.
Speaking on Heat Radio, he said: “I got a standing ovation from everyone except for Cheryl, which I thought was hilarious.
“She said she was having a row with Simon because he should have stood up for somebody else, so she didn’t stand up for me. But I’m still, I’m angry about that.”
