When Liam Payne and Cheryl announced the birth of their son Bear in March, they seemed like the happiest little family in the world.
Cheryl, 34, posted a super-cute picture of Liam, 24, holding the tot on her Instagram page, alongside a caption gushing about their “beautiful, healthy baby boy”.
However, Liam has revealed that immediately after Bear was born, he was terrified there was something wrong with his son’s health.
Appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden, the former One Directioner said: “When he was born – I think one of the midwives said it – he actually had this thing where if they don’t have a good cry, they get fluid on their lungs, which is quite serious.
“He was going, ‘Grrr’, growling away when he was sleeping. So I had specialists running in and out of the hospital while my missus was asleep, and he was being checked over.
“They were like: ‘Oh, I’m not really sure, we’ll get someone else in.’
“I had, like, ten doctors coming in the room, and in the end one guy was like: ‘Dude, I’m not being funny, there’s nothing wrong with him – he just likes to make a lot of noise.’”

While the incident gave Liam a scare, their baby’s “growling” also gave him and Cheryl an idea for a name.
“That’s carried on ever since – so he just became Bear,” explained the singer. “And children live out their name – he’s humongous!”
The stress of Bear’s first few moments clearly haven’t put Liam off babies, and earlier this week he indicated to The Sun that he’d be up for extending the brood at some point in the future.
When asked if he would rather tie the knot with Cheryl or have another child, he revealed: “I would probably say, if you pushed me, a baby. Dun-dun-dun!
“The options are definitely open for me on having another baby.

“Bear is the best creation I’ve ever made, so I welcome the idea completely. But when, I don’t really know.
“I’m about to do an album and tour for a bit, so we need some time before we think about baby number two. We’ve got time, so that’s OK.”
