Former One Direction star Liam Payne has opened up about fatherhood, saying it’s something he had to “learn” as he went along.
Liam, 25, is dad to two-year-old son Bear with ex-girlfriend Cheryl, 35.
Revealing that it took a while for him to get used to the idea of being a father, Liam told Esquire Middle East: “People make it out like a lightbulb comes on and suddenly you’re a dad and it’s like… no.”
He added: “[Being a father] is something you have to learn and I’m not afraid to say it takes more than a [expletive] minute to get your head around the idea of what it is.”

The singer also revealed the toughest part of being a dad, admitting that he finds the fact that Bear can’t talk properly yet frustrating.
He said: “The not understanding is the most difficult bit, especially when you have a toddler who doesn’t understand how to communicate and you can’t understand what they want.”
Liam and Cheryl co-parent Bear after announcing their split last summer. The trio even spent last Christmas together.
