Liam Payne has admitted he gets “upset” when he has to leave his son Bear at home while he goes on tour.
In a new interview, Liam, 24, has revealed when he’s on the road performing his hit tracks, Bear stays at home in the UK with Cheryl because he understands the close bond between a mother and their child.

Speaking to People magazine, Liam said: “Babies want their mum; I would never have wanted to get in the way of that.
“It was actually easier to go out on the road just knowing he wanted his mom.”
Liam added: “That makes me more upset now, leaving, because I know he’ll want to see me.”
But, thankfully, Liam said Bear doesn’t cry when he leaves, but said it will be an “absolute disaster” when he does.
Last month, Liam and Cheryl announced they had decided to separate after two-and-a-half years.
Former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl released a statement to Twitter that read: “We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make.
“We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”

The pair welcomed Bear in March last year but have decided to keep their little boy away from the spotlight.
Liam has previously opened up about Cheryl’s bond with Bear, and admitted he initially struggled to “find his place” as a dad.
“A mother and a child is the most beautiful thing to watch, but they’re the closest thing ever – and you’re close, but you’ll never be as close,” he told #Legend magazine.
“So a lot of dads feel put out, in that sense. I didn’t really feel put out, but I was like, ‘Where’s my place?’ I was desperate to find out what I was meant to do – changing nappies and whatever else.”
Just last month, One Direction alum Liam sweetly said Bear has made him a “better man”.

He told the Evening Standard: “I think since I’ve had a little boy, everything changes in life.
“I’m aiming more for him to be prouder of me, and already he’s making me a better man, which I think is incredible.”
