Lily Allen sparks concern as she admits she’s ‘not eating’ and tells fans ‘I’m really not in a good place’

'I hope she gets the help she needs'

Fans have expressed concerns about Lily Allen‘s health after she admitted to having struggles with eating. The singer has always been vocal about her mental and physical health.

Lily, married to Strangers Things star David Harbour, gave an update about her health on her Miss Me? podcast.

The 39-year-old singer revealed in 2023 that she was diagnosed with adult ADHD – a mental health condition that causes impulsivity, inattention and mood swings among other symptoms.

She feels her body and mind aren’t “connected”, further contributing to health issues.

Lily Allen opens up about mental health

While speaking to her friend Miquita Oliver about therapy, Lily opened up about the “tough” time she’s had the past few months.

She said her “eating has become a real issue” as she tried to navigate the difficult time.

The singer said: “My therapist and I talk about it and she says: ‘How long has this been going on?’ And I said: ‘Well, about three years really’. And she’s like: ‘Okay, why haven’t you mentioned it before?”

She added: “And it’s not because I’m lying about it. It’s just because it hasn’t seemed at the top of the list of important things that I need to talk about, but obviously it is.”

I’m not avoiding food, I’m just not thinking about it because I’m so in my head.

Lily said she is not really good at talking “about the bigger picture” and suspects her ADHD’s role in it. She said: “I wonder if that’s something to do with my ADHD as well, that I don’t link a lot of things.”

The Smile star believes her body and mind are “two very separate things”. She spends a lot of time in her head and doesn’t spend a lot of things thinking about her body.

Singer admits she’s ‘not eating’

Lily also revealed on the podcast: “I’m really not in a great place mentally at the moment, and I’m not eating. But I’m not hungry. I obviously am hungry, but my body and brain are so disconnected from each other that my body… the messages of hunger are not going from my body to my brain.”

She clarified that she isn’t deliberately stopping herself from eating. However, the thought of feeding her body isn’t always on her mind.

She explained: “I’m not avoiding food, I’m just not thinking about it because I’m so in my head. My body’s, like, a few steps behind me.”

‘I don’t get hungry’

Lily revealed the shocking details about her health months after finding herself in the healthiest state she’s ever been.

However, addressing her drastic weight loss and the criticism surrounding it, Lily admitted to being “bad with food”.

She shared on the Off Menu podcast: “I’m actually really bad… I don’t really get hungry. It’s when I see food I’m like, oh yeah, I should eat.

“I think basically my stomach goes quite long distances without eating then it has a little bit and it goes yes. I love food and I love eating, but I’m just not very good at remembering to do things.”

Fans react

Worried fans of Lily’s took to X and Instagram to share their concerns about her well-being.

One fan said: “I hope she gets the help she needs.”

Another wrote: “Sending love Lil. Please take care of your health.”

A third fan said: “I’ve had struggles eating and not been in a great place. Hope she gets all the help she deserves.”
