Rest in peace, Linda. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Linda’s legacy extends beyond her incredible achievements in music and entertainment. She was a beacon of hope and resilience, sharing her journey to raise awareness and inspire others. Rest in peace, Linda. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.”

Her sisters – Anne, Denise, Maureen and Coleen – were called to her bedside at 3.30am on Tuesday as doctors made the decision to place her in end-of-life care. They kept a vigil by her side in her final hours.

Linda’s life

Linda Nolan was born February 23, 1959. Famed for being a singer, she additionally became an actress and television personality.

The star was best known for her Anglo-Irish band of sisters The Nolans who formed as a group in Blackpool, 1974.

Their hits included I’m in the Mood for Dancing, Who’s Gonna Rock You and Chemistry. They still remain one of the world’s biggest selling girl groups, finding particular success among Japanese fans.

After leaving the group, Linda went on to play in theatre performances. With her first show, she took to the stage in a whopping 1000 plus performances at Blackpool’s Central Pier.

The sisters made Guinness World Record fame when they all performed the same role on the London West End. Linda starred as Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers for three years, following sisters Bernie and Denise.

Linda Nolan’s death followed tumors in her brain

The singer’s first breast cancer diagnosis came in 2005. The following year, after receiving treatment, she had the news the cancer has gone into remission.

Unfortunately in 2017, tragedy struck as the seventies star revealed she had been diagnosed with secondary cancer in her hip. This spread to her liver in 2020 and three years later the cancer had spread to her brain.

In mid-2024, Linda’s doctors delivered the heartbreaking results, two of her largest tumours had grown even bigger.

She sadly told The Mirror: “I sobbed when my consultant first told me. I know so many people are suffering and going through things, but I thought, just for once, could cancer just leave me alone? My heart sank.”

Linda tried taking experimental cancer treatment

Enhertu is a new life-extending breast cancer drug that is not available on the National Health Service in the UK.

Linda took Enhertu to try and gain some relief from the tragic diagnosis.

“To be able to try a new drug is amazing, I just wish everyone could have this opportunity,” she said of her ability to try this experimental drug.

This drug was supported by another round of chemotherapy for the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant. “So they’ve put me on another chemo where I might lose my hair, for a fifth time,” Linda told the hosts of Good Morning Britain in August, 2024.

Following the brain cancer diagnosis in 2023, Nolan admitted she had already started planning her funeral. She said: “I think it’s a one way trip now.”

Sister Anne, from the iconic pop group, also received a devastating cancer diagnosis in 2020. She was first diagnosed in 2000, and then fought stage-three breast cancer two decades later. The pair decided to write their autobiography during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Anne told fans she had been cancer-free after undergoing chemotherapy.

Moving through life’s narrative brought many past regrets to the surface for Linda and she told RSVP Magazine: “My only regret in life is that I didn’t have children and that is nobody’s fault but my own.”

She explained: “The reason I didn’t have children is because I let my career get in the way and I thought, “No, I will wait. But I don’t dwell on it and I don’t cry whenever I see a baby.”

Ahead of her death, Linda Nolan had admitted she faced the same daily battle with her legs that sister Bernie faced when she fought cancer.
