In a discussion centring around how young people get married these days, Carol admitted it wasn’t a good idea when she entered into her first marriage at 31… to Chris.
Co-presenter Nadia Sawalha asked her to expand, wanting to know why she had always labelled getting married that early wasn’t a good idea.
“I don’t know!” she laughed.
“I was just swept along, at the time I convinced myself I couldn’t live without him,” she continued.
She went on to describe him as “very manipulative and persuading” before saying that she did not marry him for his money – and that she had more than him at the time!
“He was nothing without me, nothing.”
Carol and Chris were married in 1991, before splitting in 1993.
She then went onto marry long-term partner Mark Cassidy in a secret ceremony in Thailand.

The pair had been together for nine years before tying the knot.
Last year, Carol said: “Of course [the wedding is still on]! It’s definitely going to happen next year. Although to be fair, I have said that for the last five or six years.
She went on to explained that tying the knot was particularly significant for the pair, saying:
“Look seriously, it’s important to us – we’ve lost family this year, and that cemented that we want to be together and married.”
