Louise Redknapp has dismissed any idea that appearing on Strictly Come Dancing contributed to the end of her marriage.
The singer, 44, was wed to former footballer Jamie in 1998 – and their marriage last nearly two decades before ending in divorce in 2017.
And while Louise admits she was energised by taking part in the BBC dance show after feeling “lonely” in her marriage, she has denied the series was responsible for shattering it.
Speaking to The Guardian, the mum-of-two also indicated she agreed to the stint on the Beeb’s ratings hit – during which she made it to the series finale – to occupy herself.

Louise told the news outlet: “Strictly put the fire back in my belly, but it didn’t break up my relationship. After 20 years of marriage, it takes a lot more than that.”
However, she also seemed to rule out the notion she took to the dance floor to find a way to foxtrot out of her marriage.
“You know, I like to think no,” Louise responded.
“I like to think not at all. I think I just went into Strictly looking for something to do.”

The chat, published today, comes one day after press allegations Louise’s former dance pro on the show Kevin is now romancing his most recent Strictly partner Stacey Dooley.
Twice-married Kevin, 36, and BBC personality Stacey won the 2018 series together – his first series victory since joining in 2013.
Yesterday Louise cleared up speculation about press stories linking her with a ‘mystery man’ by addressing her 620,000 followers on Instagram.
She revealed the man seen pictured with her in pap snaps is actually the head of security at a private members’ club in London who had been kindly assisting her.
The musical actress also told The Guardian she has begun to think she is “never going meet anyone” new.
