Following his very public spat with Katie Price, Chris Hughes called a truce with the former glamour model earlier this month, and it looked like he might finally enjoy a bit of stress-free time.
However, the Love Islander has sailed into stormy waters again, with video footage emerging of the 24-year-old getting very close to a woman that WASN’T his girlfriend Olivia Attwood.
And in an apparent attempt to clear the air with his co-star on the ITV reality show, Chris has issued a statement to his Twitter account.
In it, the Gloucestershire-born hunk expressed remorse for his actions, and even called himself a “drunk [expletive]”.
The tweet comes after The Sun obtained video footage of Chris spending time with another woman during a night out.
A party-goer who witnessed the scene told the newspaper: “He had his arms around her waist and at one point it seemed like he went in for a kiss.
“A security guard was forced to drag Chris away before anything more happened.
“Olivia certainly wouldn’t be happy to know he was acting like that on a night out.”

And that seems to be the case – after the footage emerged, the 26-year-old revealed that she’d pulled out of Tuesday night’s OK! Beauty Awards in London.
She tweeted: “Truly gutted I had to miss the @OK_Magazine Beauty Awards. Hope all you girls have a fabulous night.”
And a source told The Sun that the Surrey stunner was in a “complete mess”.
We have no idea if the Love Island couple have spoken since, but this morning Chris seemed to have his tail firmly between his legs as he posted his tweet.
Though he firmly denied that anything had happened with the mystery woman – saying “nothing escalated as it never would” – he showed regret that he’d got into that situation in the first place.
He admitted: “I put my arms round a stranger, which I should never have done, and I still don’t know why, but it’s a lesson learnt not to be a drunk [expletive].”

Olivia is yet to respond directly to Chris’s message, though she did give her opinion on the situation in a reply to a comment from one of her Twitter followers.
The fan declared: “If it was [Olivia] that did it, she would get loads of stick. But cos it’s ‘innocent’ baby-faced Chris, he gets away with it.”
And Olivia tweeted: “Oh hun, it would be a full-blown witch hunt. Boys get away with murder.”
Chris fell out with Katie Price, 39, after the pair appeared on Loose Women earlier this year.
Following the show, Chris revealed that married Katie had sent him flirtatious text messages. She then hit back by saying he’d replied to them – which he vehemently denies.
