Love Your Weekend star Alan Titchmarsh once opened up on his friendship with King Charles.
The 75-year-old spoke of the monarch during an interview back in 2022.
Love Your Weekend star Alan Titchmarsh on King Charles friendship
During an interview with the Metro back in December 2022, Alan admitted he feels reluctant to admit he’s good pals with the King.
“The King sweetly calls me a friend, which is very nice of him,” he said at the time.
“I always feel a little bit guilty when I say he’s a friend of mine – it sounds as though I’m trying to latch on to his coattails,” he then continued.
“I’m very fond of him and respect him a lot.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Alan confessed that the late Queen‘s death in September 2022 left him feeling “really sad”.
Alan ‘feels’ for the King
In another interview from 2022, the TV star revealed that he “feels” for the King.
“He is an amazing man. I feel for him a lot,” he told the Mirror at the time.
“I think it’s sad he’s had to be put through what he’s been put through. But he’s got enough people, I hope, who value what he does and who can see what he does and can field for him,” he then continued.
“He’s a man who has dedicated his life to his country, and changed lives. He’s reached the parts that many other organisations can’t reach.”
Why Alan won’t do Strictly
In other Alan-related news, the TV star revealed last year why he won’t be doing Strictly anytime soon.
“Strictly asked me again this year for the sixth time. My wife [Alison] taught dance and she said my knees won’t take the lifts and I think she’s quite right. So I stay clear of that one,” he told The Daily Star last year.
“I was asked to do I’m A Celebrity last year and I turned that one down for about the third time, too,” he then continued.
“That’s not my bag, I’m not a reality TV type. I like to be doing something, like presenting, rather than people assassinating me for the fluff in my navel. I worry about the damage to the wildlife on that show!”
