Macy Gray Ozempic complications
The songstress has reportedly been open about previous side effects related to the drug, including constipation. This time, she is voicing her frustrations with the severity of the side effects.
As reported in The Mirror, the singer said whilst on the new MTV show: “It’s really hard to catch my breath. This sucks because I’m here all the way in Colombia and I really just want to give it my all. But I just feel awful and I just want it to go away.”
Macy is said to have continued: “This is not going well,” and “I can’t even walk very much without losing my breath”.
The star was then evaluated by the programme’s medical and security team, who concluded that she needed to go to hospital.
She exclaimed: “Last time I felt like this, I had to go to the hospital. I’m just tired.”
A doctor later told her: “You are taking some medicine that can affect your pancreas. Your pancreas can’t fight,” confirming that the weight-loss drug had caused Macy to suffer complications of her pancreas.
X-Factor US star and former Fifth Harmony hitmaker Ally Brooke also chimed in on the show, explaining her familiarity with Macy’s health issue.
She said: “It’s the shot. That’s what happens, that’s literally what happened to my friends.”
Ally went on to say: “I’m familiar with the Ozempic craze and I’ve definitely heard of the side effects that Macy is having… so I feel for her.”
Ozempic craze
Macy had previously divulged her side effects whilst taking the weight loss injections, to Kim Zolciak of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She admitted: “I took Ozempic. I can’t go to the bathroom, and I was up all night.”
The singer has also confessed her reasons for taking the drug, admitting she wished to go on tour after filming so had attempted to slim down. She explained: “Quietly, I’m kind of a vain person. I’ve gained a lot of weight over the past couple years. And this is right about the time when everybody starts talking about this Ozempic.
“So, I thought, okay, I’m not taking it off the right way. Let me see if I can get one of these Ozempic. I was actually trying to take it off [the weight] before the show. Because I didn’t want to be super fat on TV, but here we are.”
Ozempic is a semaglutide which is prescribed to those in need of weight-loss support, although it’s primary use is as a diabetes treatment. The drug mimics a hormone that signals satiety and slows digestion.
