Madeleine McCann’s parents have thanked the public after being granted £300,000 to continue their worldwide search.
Taking to Facebook, Kate and Gerry McCann wrote: “Thank you for being by our side as we continue to search for Madeleine.”
The pair said they will carry on the worldwide hunt “for as long as it takes” with or without the support of police.
Thank you for being by our side as we continue to search for Madeleine.
The large sum, granted by the Home Office over the summer, will go towards the Met Police investigation, which has cost £12 million to date.
According to The Sun, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell, who is also in charge of tackling London’s knife crime, was recently put in charge of the investigation, called Operation Grange.

Madeleine vanished 12 years ago on May 3, while her parents dined at a tapas restaurant close to the apartment where she was sleeping with her twin baby siblings.
The news comes after Madeleine’s family slammed the eight-part Netflix documentary about her disappearance.

Appearing on This Morning after the series was released, their spokesperson Clarence Mitchell said: “Of course it’s distressing.
“Kate particularly feels, at times, the media are in it for a good story rather than wanting to help.
“In this case, they didn’t ask for this documentary.
“At the time, when they were first approached, they felt it wasn’t going to help. They still feel it won’t help.”
