Major Hollyoaks character set for a big return

The star's been away from Chester for 15 years

Gary Lucy is coming back to Hollyoaks after being away from the show for 15 years.

The actor played Luke Morgan on the soap between 1999 and 2002, and was part of one of its most hard-hitting storylines.

After leaving Hollyoaks, Gary went on to star as Kyle Pascoe in Footballers’ Wives, and then DC Will Fletcher in The Bill.

His most recent stint on our screens was as Danny Pennant in EastEnders on and off between 2012 and 2014.

He also starred in Dancing On Ice, which is in talks for a revival next year. He came second to Hayley Tamaddon.

During his time on Hollyoaks his portrayal of Luke, who was raped by a fellow football player during one of the show’s late night episodes, won him huge praise from fans.

His family consisted of brother Adam and sisters Zara and Beth. But there’s no news yet as to whether any of them will be joining him.

Gary has reportedly already started filming and will be back in Chester for at least 18 months. But what could possibly bring him back to the place that holds so many bad memories for him?

A show source told The Daily Star: “Producers have some massive storylines planned for Gary. He will be at the centre of the action.

“They know how talented he is and also how popular he is with viewers.

“Because he’ll be back for at least 18 months it will be possible for him to have some really meaty storylines.”

Apparently, he’s been on the wishlist for a return for quite some time, but his commitments to The Full Monty musical have made it tricky to get all put in place.

The source added: “It’s taken a while to get this sorted. But now it’s all signed everyone is thrilled to have him on the show.”

Gary is married to wife Natasha and they have three children, 12-year-old India, Elvis, who’s six, and two-year old Sadie.

We can’t wait to see what Luke’s back in town for – and what storylines bosses have planned for him.
