Mamma Mia fans have been left devastated as the trailer for the film has hinted that Donna Sheridan has been killed off.
The hotel owner – who is played by Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep – doesn’t feature in the trailer in any original footage and there are heavy hints that she is gone.
“I’m pregnant but I don’t know how to do this myself,” says Donna’s daughter Sophie to her mother’s best friends.
“Your mother was the bravest person we ever met,” Rosie tells Sophie.
Tanya adds: “Let me tell you how she did it all on her own.”

Fans have been left devastated by the new trailer.
One wrote: “Well the Mamma Mia 2 trailer has me suicidal.
“Where is Meryl, what have they done to Donna, my heart is broken and I shouldn’t feel that way about the sequel to a film that changed my life.”
Another added: “Ok, who do I speak to about cancelling 2018? Meryl Streep has died in Mamma Mia 2. Tell Kim Jong-un to press the button.”
A third tweeted: “Mamma Mia 2 makes no sense to me. Donna is dead. Donna and Sam weren’t together anymore. Donnas mum was dead in the first movie and now she’s alive.”
The film also sees the first appearance of Cher as Donna’s mother, who despite claims in the first film, isn’t actually dead.
Instead she arrives on the island in a helicopter to Sophie’s party uninvited and tells her: It’s the best kind of party little girl.”

One fan tweeted: “I thought Cher was going to be playing Donna’s mom in flashback, not present day.
“Donna CLEARLY references her mother being dead in the first movie? ‘Someone up there has got it in for me. I bet it’s my mother.’
“SHE?? IS?? DEAD??”
Actors Lily James, Jeremy Irvine, Josh Dylan, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Hugh Skinner, Alexa Davies join the stars of the original cast including Meryl Streep in the sequel.
Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again is released on July 20, 2018.
