Matt Evers reveals cancer scare as he prepares for The All New Monty

He'll appear with Love Island winner Jack Fincham...

Dancing On Ice star Matt Evers is famous for his daredevil moves on Dancing On Ice, so it didn’t come as much of a surprise to hear he’d signed up to appear on The All New Monty: Who Bares Wins.

However, in advance of his appearance on the show – in which celebrities strip off to raise awareness of cancer – Matt has revealed an unexpected vulnerable side.

Just days after being voted off Dancing On Ice on Sunday, Matt appeared on The Jeremy Vine Show and admitted he didn’t realise he’d be dancing completely nude.

The American-born champion pair skater, 42, also opened up about his real-life cancer scare.

On Wednesday’s show, Matt said: “We’re raising awareness for testicular cancer. I had a testicular cancer scare a couple of years back and thankfully I got a clean bill of health.

“But this is something in my career I would have never thought I’d do and it’s performing for millions and millions of people with Dancing On Ice, and now taking my clothes off for millions and millions of people.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been more nervous! It’s properly everything off and when I agreed to do the show I was like, ‘I don’t know, it’ll be smoke and mirrors or I’ll wear a flesh-coloured thong’ – no.”

He also shared a photo with his 82,100 Instagram followers, revealing he lost his mum to cancer when he was 17.

Matt said: “Cannot tell you how honoured, excited and nervous I am to be a part of the cast of @itv All New Monty 2019. The men in this picture are some of the best humans I’ve had the pleasure to work with.

“The subject of this show is close to my heart as I had a testicular cancer scare a few years back and I lost my mother to cancer when I was 17. Thank you all for the incredible support as we raise awareness for male cancers.”

Matt will join Love Island winner Jack Fincham, Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here winner Joe Pasquale, Strictly Come Dancing’s Gorka Marquez, snooker legend Willie Thorne, Crimewatch’s Rav Wilding, and footballer Jason Cundy.

Ashley Banjo will oversee the dance routine alongside Pointless host Alexander Armstrong, who will take care of the singing for the highly-anticipated evening.

In a statement released today, Ashley said: “It’s such a privilege to be able to be a part of this fantastic series.

“This show has been a life-changing experience for me and hopefully for many other men around the country who have been checked or had conversations about cancer that they wouldn’t have had otherwise.

“Every year I plan something I hope will be better than the last, but this time Xander and I really have gone full-out to make this the biggest and best yet!”

The two 90-minute specials – one male, one female – aim to demonstrate the importance of shedding body inhibitions and making checks in intimate areas to prevent cancer.

Meanwhile, the ladies version includes legendary tennis icon Martina Navratilova, EastEnders star Laurie Brett, Love Island’s Megan Barton-Hanson, So Solid Crew’s Lisa Maffia, TOWIE’s Danielle Armstrong, and Benidorm’s Crissy Rock.
