Matt Hancock on Peston admitted that he “blew up every part of his life” in his first TV interview since his shock affair.
The disgraced former Health Secretary opened up about the very public affair and the fall-out from it.
What did Matt Hancock say on Peston?
Speaking to Robert Peston on last night’s episode of his ITV show (Wednesday December 1), Mr Hancock explained that his resignation came after he addressed his personal life.
“Well, as you can imagine, the first thing that I focused on was my personal life,” he said.

“And then I focused on my professional responsibilities, and I decided that I had to resign.
“I had blown up every part of my life and I concentrated on my personal life first as you can probably imagine.
“It was the right thing to do.”

Mr Hancock also apologised for his behaviour.
He said: “I made the decision [to resign], it was clearly right decision.
“And I just say, sorry again for the failure of… I let a lot of people down and I’m sorry to the people who I hurt.”
Although he was honest in his appraisal, he refused to disclose the nature of the conversations between him and Boris Johnson.
What happened in June?
Mr Hancock, who was Health Secretary during much of 2020 and 2021, often urged Brits to use social distancing.
However, he was sensationally caught on camera kissing his aide, Gina Coladangelo, in his office in June of this year.

Married to Martha since 2006, and with three children, the incident went viral.
A source told the Daily Mail: “He is still very much together with Gina, but they are physically apart because of the intense media interest.”
