Matt Lucas has revealed he was forced to call the police after he received a death threat from a Michael Jackson fan.
The barrage of abuse came after the comedian, 44, watched the explosive new documentary, Leaving Neverland, which features the testimonial of two men who allege Jackson sexually abused them as children.
Writing on Twitter to his 100,000 followers, Lucas said of the controversial two-part film: “Leaving Neverland is a very tough watch indeed but the testimonies of Wade Robson and James Safechuck and their families must be heard.”

He added: “After four heartbreaking hours, you don’t doubt them for a moment. Michael Jackson can rot.”
The tweet prompted a barrage of abuse and cruel messages from Jackson fans, forcing Matt to respond.
“Since I saw LEAVING NEVERLAND & said I believe the testimonies of Robson & Safechuck, a handful of MJ fans have attacked me on social media,” he said.
“I’ve even had a death threat, which is with the police.
“This charmer is calling me a paedophile. And we wonder why victims don’t speak up.”

They’ve not been paid for the documentary. Honestly, if/when you watch it, you will understand my response, and I won’t be alone.

In a later tweet to a follower, Lucas said people need to see the documentary for themselves before commenting.
“They’ve not been paid for the documentary. Honestly, if/when you watch it, you understand my response, and I won’t be alone,” the Little Britain star wrote.
Wade Robson and James Safechuck were both befriended by the superstar when they were young boys. In the four-hour documentary, the pair share intimate details of the time they spent with Jackson.
The late pop icon’s estate slammed the film as “yet another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson.”
The documentary airs on Channel 4 on March 6 and March 7.
