The Wanted star Max George has shared an update after revealing that he will have to undergo heart surgery.
The 36-year-old singer posted a snap from his hospital bed on December 12 where he shared the terrifying news that he was suffering from heart complications and would be spending Christmas in hospital.
The news comes just two years after his bandmate and best friend Tom Parker died of brain cancer.
Despite this major bombshell, Max insisted he was “very lucky” and “in the best place”. In an update on Saturday, Max revealed that he has an “issue with the bottom part” of his heart.

He said in a video on his Instagram Stories: “I have got an issue with the bottom part of my heart — it is called a block. The tricky bit is what I have put in because until I have further tests, we don’t know what caused it.”
He added: “My heart rate is really, really low, which they are monitoring 24/7. Everyone has been amazing but the waiting bit is tough, do you know what I mean? But yeah, it is just one of those things unfortunately and whatever I get I have just got to get on with it really and we are hoping pacemaker. Pacemaker is good.”
Max penned to social media earlier in the week: “Hey everyone. Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart.”
The singer then explained that before he was well enough to return home, he must have surgery.
“I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet,” he continued.
Although this will leave the star in hospital over the festive period, he assured fans that he is receiving all the support he needs – especially from his family and actress girlfriend Maisie Smith.

Max also shared a clip of himself connected to a heart monitor machine whilst watching the Manchester City game from his hospital bed. A visibly downtrodden Max could be heard exclaiming that he hopes his beloved team at least win their upcoming match on Sunday.
Consequently, friends and fans have flocked to the comment sections to share their love.
Marvin Humes wrote: “Sorry to hear you’re not well geezer…You’re strong and will fight through. Big love mate.”
Meanwhile, fellow JLS star JB Gill commented: “God bless you bro, wishing you better soon. Sending lots of love.”
Love Island star Chloe Burrows exclaimed: “Omg Maxy sending all my love.”
“Sending you all my love Max. You have all of us supporting you,” gushed one fan. “Sending you so much love and hugs Max. I hope they get to the bottom of things for you soon and you make a speedy recovery,” chimed in another.
In the post, where Max could be seen donning a hospital gown, he also flashed a tattoo of a birth date on his collarbone. He got the ink back in 2022 in memory of Tom Parker, who died aged just 33.

She told MailOnline: “We are beside ourselves, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.”
Speaking outside her home in Swinton today, Barbara stated: “Max is in the hospital right now and he’s being very well taken care of. I took him to A&E this week where he was looked at.
