Max George has revealed he’s undergone a second heart operation in a candid health update with fans.
The Wanted singer, 36, began having issues with his heart in December and spent the lead up to Christmas in hospital. It was found that the star’s pulse was too low and, as a result, he required a pacemaker.
However, after experiencing “physical symptoms” in the weeks that followed, Max had to go back under the knife again.
Sharing that he ended up back in hospital again recently, Max has opened up about the devastating “setback”.
Max George reveals second heart operation
On Monday (February 17), Max took to his Instagram to give fans an update on how he is doing.
The singer shared a photo of himself on the operating table and also a picture of his chest – that had been stitched back together.
Alongside the snaps he wrote: “A few weeks ago I had to go back into hospital after having some physical symptoms in my chest.
“It turned out that one of the leads was placed too far into my heart. The second surgery took about 2 hours. Luckily, it was a success and they kindly let me listen to Oasis the whole time!”

‘It’s been a setback’
Max added: “It’s been a setback, but it’s just one of those things. I’ve had a few complications the last couple of months. But I’m having loads of tests to make sure everything is all good.
I’ve had a few complications the last couple of months.
“It can take a few weeks / months for the inflammation of my heart to subside (myocarditis). But I’m sure I’ll be back on top form in no time!
“Thanks everyone for all your lovely messages and support through what’s been a pretty rough time. Means a lot.”
The TV star also shared another photo of himself on the operating table, showing off his scar. He captioned it: “Round two.”
Max George wrote his will amid death fears
Meanwhile, in a previous interview, Max also revealed that he was so worried he’d die as a result of his heart issues, that he actually wrote his will on his phone in his hospital bed.
“That first night I wrote a will, I thought I was going to die. If I could go from being absolutely on top of the world to being told ‘the bottom part of your heart isn’t working’, I kept thinking in my head, well, what if the top half stops working overnight?” he said.
“When you get told that you really realise what your responsibilities are. I’ve got a partner, Maisie, I’ve got a family. I’ve got two little nephews and all of that stuff really comes to the front of it all,” he then added.
