Megan McKenna has revealed she spent five days in hospital quarantine after falling ill earlier this year.
The former Celebrity Big Brother and TOWIE star, 25, made headlines in January when it emerged she’d left the National Television Awards earlier due to ill health.
In a new interview with OK! Magazine, she explained: “I’d just come out of hospital because I had infectious colitis, caused by a type of food poisoning called campylobacter, which people can die from.”

Megan, who has coeliac disease and IBS, went on to say: “At first I thought I had the flu, but it got worse and I was taken to hospital in an ambulance. There was blood coming out when I went to the toilet and I couldn’t stand up. I was in quarantine in hospital for five days and I was on morphine, codeine and drips.
“When I left hospital I still wasn’t right, I’ve actually only just got better.”
Megan has been supported throughout her illness by boyfriend Mike Thalassitis, best known to many of us as Love Island’s Muggy Mike – although Megan disagrees with that nickname.
Things have been going from strength to strength for the TV couple, despite a rocky patch earlier this year when they briefly parted ways before getting back together.
In fact, it’s all going so well we could be hearing wedding bells one day!
Megan gushed: “I reckon we’ll live together soon. He stays over a lot, so it would definitely work.
“I do want to marry him – we’d have such an amazing wedding! I want three children and I want them all to look like Mike – he’s got nice tanned skin and green eyes.”

She may have found fame on reality TV thanks to Ex On The Beach, CBB and TOWIE, but her true passion is singing.
The star’s already topped the iTunes chart with debut single, High Heeled Shoes, and filmed a three-part series in Nashville following the launch of her country music career.
