Mel B has announced the sad news that her father Martin Brown has died aged 63 following a battle with cancer.
He had been fighting the illness for the past five years.
The former Spice Girl shared a poignant black and white photo of herself, her dad and her sister, Danielle, holding hands at his bedside.
She accompanied the touching picture with the words: “It is with great sadness after a 5yr battle to multiple myeloma cancer our loving father Martin Brown passed away age 63 peacefully yesterday.
“Both of us his children were by his side and would like to say thank you to St Gemma’s and all the doctors and nurses for there amazing care and support over the years.
“Please respect our privacy and let us as a united family grieve with love and respect.
“Melanie and Danielle Brown x Be Free Dad.”
The Leeds-born singer’s younger sister Danielle posted the same image and note to her social media pages.
Shared tragedy appears to have brought the sisters close together again, following a long-running feud, which has been played out at times in public.
LA-based Mel B seems to have flown into the country to say goodbye to her father earlier this week, sharing a picture of her and oldest daughter Phoenix, 18, embarking on a long-haul journey.
