Piers Morgan accuses Charlotte Hawkins of letting GMB team down on Strictly

The outspoken presenter even accused his co-star of being drunk

On Saturday night Charlotte Hawkins failed to impress the Strictly Come Dancing judges with her Cha Cha Cha performance as they branded it a “dance disaster”.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan gave his own critique on Monday’s show as poor Charlotte spoke about her “horrific” performance.

Piers, 52, showed no sympathy for his co-star and even accused her of being drunk during her routine asking if she’d had a little drunk for “Dutch Courage”.

Charlotte, 42, ended up at the bottom of Saturday’s leader board after racking up just 12 points for her performance with professional dance partner Brendan Cole.

Charlotte wowed in her incredible outfit but that wasn’t taken into consideration by the judges.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood suggested whether the routine was too complicated for the star after Charlotte seemed to forget some of her steps.

Piers, who admitted to being “horrified” watching Charlotte’s routine, quizzed his co-host about her performance on today’s show.

Speaking about her performance Piers said: “Morning Charlotte, that went well then.

“Do you fancy a little cha cha chat about it?

“Talk us through exactly what happened.”

Poor Charlotte replied: “What a night, it was horrific.”

“Talk us through your thoughts as you were falling over every three minutes,” Piers brutally responded.

Going on to talk about one of the spin moves Charlotte struggled to perform Piers said: “That was literally like me at 2am at a party drunk falling over.”

The controversial presenter then went on to grill Charlotte asking her if she’d even been putting the practice.

He said: “Are you putting in enough hours of practice?” to which Charlotte looked stunned and replied: “Yes I’m putting in eight hours after every GMB.”

Later on in the show during the showbiz segment with presenter Richard Arnold Piers admitted he was “horrified” watching Charlotte from home.

He said: “I was horrified.

“I thought you were going to be really good on this.”

Richard was slightly more supportive towards Charlotte as he said she will “bounce back” next week.

Getting the final word in Piers said: “How do I know you’re going to bounce back? At the moment you’re just bouncing across the floor!

“Let me remind you, you are representing this programme. Me, Susanna, the crew…we’re all living this dream with you but, at the moment, it’s turning into a nightmare.”

On Saturday Charlotte was grilled by harsh judge Craig who labelled her performance a “complete disaster”.

Fellow panellist Bruno Tonioli was also quick to criticse her routine suggesting Brendan was “dragging” Charlotte across the dance floor.

Taking to Twitter after their performance Brendan was quick to defend Charlotte.

He said: “I have a lot to say about last Saturday… here goes…

“It was definitely a tough night at the office & maybe the scores were just! What I object to is belitling (sic) someone who has worked hard and is clearly upset at the situation.

“I have no time for negativity when someone is down!

“It was obvious that things hadn’t gone to plan and at that time you can be honest but constructively positive!”

He added: “This can be humiliating at the best of times and laughing at another’s misfortune is disgusting and although Strictly is just an entertainment show, we invest time and emotion into it and therefore it matters to us who take part.”

“We are not changing the world but we do care. That’s all, rant over! We are coming back stronger next week, I believe in team #charcole.”
