Simon Cowell was forced to pull out of the Pride of Britain Awards, amid health concerns after a fall in his home.
He was scheduled to attend the awards ceremony last night with his partner, Lauren Silverman, and the rest of the stars of The X Factor.
The awards honour ordinary citizens who have acted bravely in extraordinary circumstances. Guest included Prince William, Theresa May, Jeremy Corbyn, and Jamie Oliver.
Among others, the 2017 recognised the work of responders to the Greenfell fire and the Manchester Arena attack.
Simon has been absent from his duties as a judge on The X Factor following a fall in his home. He was rushed to hospital after falling down the stairs.
The media mogul had reportedly got up for some hot milk after struggling to fall asleep, and fainted as he headed downstairs.
The producer said the fall – which seems to have been the result of low blood pressure – came as a “huge shock,” and has acted as a wake up call.
Speaking to The Sun, Simon said he was committed to dealing with the condition, to ensure he is there for his three-year-old son, Eric.
“Sometimes we get a reminder that we’re not invincible,” he said, “and this was certainly mine. It was a huge shock.”
The fall left him with a concussion and some back pain, and he is thought to be having further tests this week.
