Soap weddings have got something of a reputation for not going particularly smoothy, let’s face it.

In fact – aside from Whitney Dean and Lee Carter’s wedding which went off without even a sniff of dramz – we’re struggling to think of any soapy nuptials that went entirely to plan.

In honour of Michelle Connor – whose wedding turned into a hostage/bloodbath situation this week – we picked out our best worst Corrie weddings for you.

No, no. You’re welcome.

Steve McDonald and Tracy Barlow

“Your shiny new wife’s a filthy liar” are the words that sum this wedding up perfectly. Steve’s ex-wife Becky had become the talk of the cobbles after Tracy lied and said Becky had pushed her down the stairs causing her to lose the twins she was expecting with Steve.

But instead of shouting her mouth of in church, Becky chose to wait until Steve was already betrothed to Tracy before handing him a copy of her medical records, proving Tracy was lying about the babies.

Becky then fled to Barbados with a hot new man. Which is basically a massive win for her.

Carla Connor and Peter Barlow

Carla Connor finally got her man when she married Peter Barlow, the fella she’d been obsessed with since forever. But things didn’t exactly work out like a fairytale when Carla got wasted on wedding wine, passed out cold and Peter had his way with Tina McIntyre over the top table.

Ah well, at least her brother Rob got to give her away. Before murdering Tina and being imprisoned for life.

Bev Unwin and Fred Elliott

Holy moly what a mess this was. So Fred was in love with Audrey Roberts and proposed to her. He was heartbroken when she turned him down and started a relationship with Bev instead. But on Fred and Bev’s – sadly this was before the time of ship names or we would’ve called them ‘Bred’ – wedding day Audrey decided she did have feeling for Freddo after all.

He went to let her down and ended up having a stroke in her hallway – quiet at the back – which killed him.

Eva Price and Aidan Connor

Oh yeah, this happened. So about a year ago Eva Price discovered her boyfriend Aidan Connor was cheating on her with Maria Connor when their love texts flashed up on Eva and Aidan’s telly which was connected to his ipad or something else very technical that confuses us.

Anyway Eva found out her boyf and BFF were secretly shagging and plotted her revenge. Amongst other things she rinsed Aidan for all him money and lied about being pregnant so he’d propose.

But Maria found out Eva’s baby was a lie and exposed her by popping scan pics in all the order of services. Nice touch. They ended up having a huge scrap in the fountain at the wedding venue and Eva almost fell out of a window.

Steve and Karen McDonald

This pair tied the knot twice but it was their second attempt which really took the (wedding) cake when Tracy Barlow decided it was the perfect time to reveal that Steve was her baby’s father.

At least this time they married for real love and stuff though. Their first attempt was for a bet. Sadly both attempts ended in divorce.

Sarah Platt and Jason Grimshaw

A year after Jason dumped Sarah at the altar, the pair had another go at tying the knot. This attempt was ruined by her brother David – who was a LOT less likeable in those days – who pulled out all the stops to stop his sister marrying Jason.

Furious at being left off the guest list after nearly killing Bethany with Ecstasy, David had already fiddled with scaffolding where Jason was working and invited Jason’s estranged gay brother Todd who’d cheated on Sarah when they’d previously dated.

He then attempted suicide by driving into the river leaving Sarah and Jason standing at the altar while the guests all dashed off to make sure he was ok.

Oh David, if you want to upstage the bride THAT MUCH, just wear white to the wedding.
