Fans of BBC sitcom Mrs Brown’s Boys were shocked to discover yesterday that the star of the programme- Brendan O’Carroll – was rushed to hospital after filming the show’s Christmas special.
Brendan was rushed to hospital just hours after filming the one-off in Glasgow.
He told The Mirror: “I thought I was having a heart attack. I had this bug and at about 2am I had to wake [my wife] Jenny up. We were filming the Christmas special up in Glasgow.”

The 62-year-old comic and his wife wasted no time in dialling 999 and hailing the emergency services.
He said: “It was all going on. I had the fright of my life and I thought I was a goner.
“When I got in the ambulance they said ‘Well it is not your heart’ and I vomited it out for 12 hours. I had a very violent bug.”
The mega-hit comedy programme has been a BBC One staple since 2011, but has been in existence since the early 90s.
Brendan O’Carroll first devised the character for an Irish radio station in 1992, before publishing a series of books in her name.
And as the character gathered steam, the BBC swooped and netted one of its most popular ever sitcoms.
However, one key cast member recently departed the mega-success, with Rory Cowan deciding recently to look for inspiration elsewhere.
His shock departure after 26 years was confirmed in July, and he performed with the rest of the cast at London’s O2 arena on Sunday.

But he said: “There is no problem with me and Brendan. There was no bust up. I didn’t have a row with him about money.
We’re delighted that Brendan doesn’t have trouble with his ticker, and hope that he continues making us laugh for another 26 years.
