A legendary Coronation Street character is going to become the victim of a shock murder attempt.
Eccles the dog, who was once owned by the equally legendary acid-tongued pensioner Blanche Hunt, will be rushed to the vets this week when she is found sick in the back garden.
Toyah Battersby will come across the tiny terrier when she overhears her whining in Ken Barlow’s back yard.
After rushing her to the vets, it soon becomes clear that Eccles has been poisoned.
But who would hurt an innocent animal?

It soon becomes apparent that the poisoning is a warning meant for Simon Barlow.
The schoolboy found the bravery to stand up against the gang he had been hanging around with after leader Tyler tried to kill Flora McArdle.
But after speaking to the police about what Tyler did, Simon painted a target on his back.
When Tyler walks into the cafe where Simon is working to pay off the debt from what the gang stole, he will make a strange request of Simon.
Claiming he will drop all the action he had planned in return for a free sausage sandwich, Tyler piques Simon’s interest.
And when he willingly hands over the sandwich, he thinks nothing of it.
