Nadine Coyle lifts the lid on “bitter” feud that broke up Girls Aloud

Finally!

There have been rumours for years about why Girls Aloud decided to break up, and after Sarah Harding recently admitted she hadn’t spoken to some of her band mates in years, we all knew something wasn’t quite right between them.

But for the first time ever we now know exactly why their successful group broke down and why some of them lost their friendships.

Former Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle has opened up to The Sun about jealousy between the five band members.

She said: “It was fine at the start but there’s always politics in any band.

“It just happened that I always got more vocals than everybody else, so in terms of people wanting their voice heard, that wasn’t happening.

“And it made people, very bitter. They didn’t like that.”

She revealed that a divide formed between the singers, with her and Sarah Harding on one side and Cheryl, Kimberley and Nicola on the other.

She said: “It’s so sad for me to have to admit this stuff now because for so long, there’s the band, and you want everybody to think we’re best friends and we have pillow fights and, you know, drink milkshakes.

“That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be, but it just wasn’t how it was.

“So yeah there was [a divide]. We’re all very, very different characters.”

She admitted that she was shocked when the band decided to split because no one consulted her, and she only found out by management during their anniversary reunion tour in 2013.

“I thought we were going to continue. I thought we were going to do loads and loads of stuff,” she said.

She continued: “We had songs, we had a three-album deal and it seemed like a great time. Obviously the girls had different plans.

“The very last night, management had come to the room.

“I was all ready, just about to get dressed and they were like, ‘So I know you’re not going to like this, I know you’re not going to agree, but the girls want to split up the band’.

“And I asked Sarah and she was like, ‘I can’t be bothered and I hate everything’.

“Because you know, when you’re on tour everybody gets tired, you’re exhausted.”

Nadine addressed Cheryl’s past allegations that the band split up because Nadine wanted to have her own solo career.

She hit back at the claims, saying: “When we took the hiatus she was the one that came out with songs immediately. I didn’t do anything for a long time.”

Surprisingly she even revealed that their manager Louis Walsh disliked the other band members, but she got along with him because they had met on the Irish version of Popstars: The Rivals.

She admitted: “I don’t think he liked the girls from the start.

“He thought they were trouble. I was obviously stuck.

“I was in the band with them . . . It wasn’t going to be a harmonious thing.”

It seems there is still some tension between the girls, as Nadine said she was the only one to wish Sarah good luck as she went into Celebrity Big Brother.

This also came around the same time that Cheryl unfollowed Sarah on social media. Nadine wasn’t shocked by this.

She explained: “I’m not surprised, no. If you don’t like somebody, just be genuine about it. You don’t have to be anything else. I don’t think Sarah’s surprised either, it’s to be expected.”
