Nicola McLean breaks down as she reveals baby heartbreak

The model opened up to the Loose Women

Celebrity Big Brother star Nicola McLean has opened up on Loose Women about being unable to have another child.

She appeared on Monday’s show alongside her former CBB housemate Coleen Nolan to talk about her battle with anxiety, eating disorders, and her most recent health crisis which has left her dream of becoming a mum for the third time in tatters.

The model revealed she has Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and her doctor has advised her to have her ovaries removed to protect her health.

Fighting back the tears as she started talking about the diagnosis, Nicola insisted: “I’ve got two boys, so I’m lucky.

“But I really did want another one.”

Speaking about her battle with the condition, Nicola said:

“It can be really manageable, but I’ve had cysts for a number of years and I’ve had some removed.

“They’ve been infected, I’ve been so ill, that’s why I haven’t got a date for my operation I needed to get the infection down. I had a temperature of 41, I was lying in bed shaking.

“The cysts keep on coming back, they keep on getting bigger, so my doctor said to me ‘how many more times is it going to be before the cysts stop being healthy?’.”

Also revealing it’s not just the cysts that cause her problems, she added:

“My smears never come back okay, I have to have them every three months. I always have pre-cancerous cells.

“I have really bad luck when it comes to women’s problems.”

Viewers were quick to praise Nicola on Twitter for opening up about her struggles.

But some felt she was being insensitive to those who didn’t have any children at all.

And others referenced the time on CBB that she brought Kim Woodburn’s childlessness into an argument.
