Olly Murs has opened up about needing therapy after hosting The X Factor in 2015.
The singer, who appeared on the sixth series of the show in 2009, admitted presenting the show “wasn’t a nice experience” as he was targeted by trolls after he made a mistake during a live show.
The blunder saw him mix up the judges scores and prematurely announced that contestant Monica Michael was going home – before the results of the public vote had been revealed.
Olly, who hosted the show with Caroline Flack, has said he found the negative attention hard to deal with, so he turned to therapy to help him cope.

He told OK! Magazine: “The X Factor wasn’t a nice experience. I was targeted by trolls and the media.
“It took me a few years to pluck up the courage to speak to someone.”
Olly, 34, added: “I only went a couple of times but talking to someone who wasn’t judgemental helped me to understand why I was reacting or feeling the way I was.”

Since appearing on the X Factor, Olly has become a household name and is now a coach on The Voice UK.
It comes after the star admitted he isn’t sure if X Factor boss Simon Cowell is speaking to him.
Speaking to The Mirror earlier this month, Olly admitted things had been tense since he turned down a £3million contract to join the judging panel on The X Factor.
He said: “I have so much respect for Simon and it was difficult to tell him no. I’m not sure we’re on talking terms.”
He added that he’s hoping they’ll get back to being mates at some point, adding: “I said to Simon, ‘It’s not a no forever’.”
Olly instead decided to stay on the The Voice, as a coach, explaining: “I felt I had such a great time on The Voice, why would I leave after one year? I felt I did an incredible job last year and I’m very proud of that. It was a good move.”

Olly joined the talent show last year and viewing figures rose.
ITV recently confirmed that Olly – along with Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and Will.i.am – will be returning as coaches for the new series of The Voice UK.
