Our Girl has apparently been axed after deals to replace Michelle Keegan with Jacqueline Jossa ‘fell through’.
The former EastEnders actress was in line to be the new star of the hit show but the BBC show has been axed.
The BBC formally announced on Tuesday that the show has ended after four series.
‘Real reason’ Our Girl axed
A source has said that the BBC was forced to cancel Our Girl and Jacqueline Jossa as its new lead due to coronavirus.
Typically filmed at offshore locations, filming and lockdown restrictions would have made it near impossible to continue, the source claims.

Speaking to The Sun, the source said: “Jacqueline knew it was a massive role for her but after the initial call it all went quiet and nothing more was said.
“With the pandemic and restrictions on filming, they felt it was best to just pull the plug for the moment.
“It’s a shame because everyone thought Jacqueline could have had huge success in the role but the chance never really came off.”
Michelle reportedly quit the show to spend more time with her husband Mark Wright.
Why did Michelle Keegan leave Our Girl?
Our Girl had forced Michelle to be away from her hubby for months at a time.

Mark also sacrificed his role as a host for US show Extra to spend more time with his wife.
They felt it was best to just pull the plug for the moment.
At the time of Michelle’s departure, the show’s creator Tony Grounds said to the Radio Times:
“With the finale of series four showing Georgie ready to move on with her life, it feels like the right time for us to do the same.
“Michelle and I are keen to continue our working relationship and, who knows, maybe we’ll catch up with Georgie in the future.
“I wanted to say a big thank you to the fans of the show, it’s been a joy to write.”
Meanwhile, Jacqueline hasn’t had any major acting gigs since leaving her EastEnders role as Lauren Branning in 2018.
Despite this, she got a huge popularity boost after winning 2019’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!.
She has also gone on to launch several fashion edits for online retailer In The Style.
