Paul Young became emotional as he opened up about his late wife, Stacey, on Tuesday’s This Morning.
Stacey passed away in January at the age of 52 following a two-year battle with brain cancer.
’80s icon Paul, 62, said he and Stacey, who have three children, “made the best of it” for the two years she was ill.

Hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes offered their condolences to Paul, with Eamonn saying: “Heartfelt commiserations about losing Stacey in January this year. It was a tough year for you.”
Paul replied: “Yes [it is a tough year] but really the tougher years were the two years from the diagnosis right through, you know.
“It was the same [condition] as Tessa Jowell and Tessa said the right thing: ‘There’s not a lot research that goes into that grade of cancer because the results aren’t good.'”
Holding back tears, he continued: “We just made the best of it for those two years. And as a family, we agreed that we [he and his children] wanted to get working and do something positive. That’s what [Stacey] was proudest of.
“She was really happy for me when things started to pick up again. [We are a close family], we see each other all the time.”
On his own health, Paul explained how he and the family changed their eating habits when Stacey was ill.
He revealed: “When she first got ill, we all said we’d cut out sugar, because it aggravates cancer, so we did that as a show of solidarity really with Stacey.
“Having said that, looking after her for those two years, I wasn’t looking after myself, so I’ve got back on the trail now.”
He added: “I’m back doing exercise. I look after my voice and I warm up… I tend to do it in the car, which must look a little strange.”
In January, Paul’s publicist released a statement to reveal the devastating news that Stacey had passed away.
They told the Press Association: “The singer Paul Young has today announced that his wife, Stacey Young, sadly passed away today after a two-year fight with brain cancer.
“Stacey died peacefully at home surrounded by family, friends and her four children: Levi, Layla, Grady and Jude.”

“The family respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”
Paul and Stacey’s children are Levi, Layla and Grace, while Stacey was also mum to Jude.
Paul met Stacey on the video shoot for his second single Come Back and Stay in 1983.
They married in 1987 before splitting in 2006. They then got back together again three years later.
