Paul Young sends sweetest message to fans following death of wife Stacey

His wife passed away yesterday

During what are sure to be some of the darkest days of his life, Paul Young has reached out to his loyal followers to thank them for their kindness.

Yesterday the death of his beautiful wife Stacey, aged just 52, was announced – and his fans flooded his Twitter with messages of condolence.

The iconic pop singer responded with a tweet straight from the heart…

He wrote: “Twitter keeps jamming with your lovely messages so I can’t get to read them all! But I appreciate every one x.”

Earlier, he broke the news of his beloved wife’s passing to his followers on the social media network, writing:  “Sadly Stacey has passed away today after a 2 year fight with brain cancer.

“She died peacefully at our home surrounded by family, friends and her four children: Levi, Layla, Grady and Jude.”

Paul’s publicist told the Press Association: “The singer Paul Young has today announced that his wife, Stacey Young, sadly passed away today after a two-year fight with brain cancer.

“Stacey died peacefully at home surrounded by family, friends and her four children: Levi, Layla, Grady and Jude.

“The family respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”

Paul met Stacey on the video shoot for his second single Come Back and Stay in 1983.

They married in 1987 and have three children together – daughters Levi and Layla, and son Grady.

Paul and Stacey split in 2006 before getting back together again three years later.

In the time they were separated, Stacey had her fourth child, son Jude, with Israeli businessman Ilan Slazenger.

Following their reconciliation, the pop singer became Jude’s stepfather.
