Pauline Quirke’s son has shared a sweet message to those who have shown their support since the news of his mum’s diagnosis.
Pauline’s diagnosis was shared by her husband Steve this week. Pauline has known about her illness since 2021.

Charlie Quirke speaks out
Taking to Instagram today (January 23), Charlie shared his gratitude with those who have thrown their support behind Pauline. He also posted a new picture of himself with his beloved mum.
He wrote to his stories: “Hi all. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of you for your messages of support, kind words about my beautiful mum and stories you have.
“We, as a family are very moved and touched by all of them. They have put a smile on all of our faces. We appreciate each and everyone of you. Thank you.”
Pauline Quirke’s son shared a touching tribute
Pauline’s husband, Steve Sheen, shared this week: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce my wife Pauline’s decision to step back from all professional and commercial duties due to her diagnosis of dementia in 2021.”
In February 2023, Pauline made what would be her last appearance in the public eye before her diagnosis was shared with the world.
The actress was awarded an MBE in the late Queen’s final Birthday Honours for services to young people, the entertainment industry and charity.
At the time, a proud Charlie shared a snap of his mum to social media and lovingly penned: “To my beautiful mum. I can’t start to tell you how proud I am of my mum getting her MBE today.
“For her services to charity, young people & the entertainment industry. To the most selfless, funniest and most caring person I know. Mad day to be honest. Here’s to you Mum,” he then concluded.
Pauline was awarded the honour as a result of the amazing work she has done with her performing arts school. In 2017, Pauline launched The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts. The countrywide centre offers extracurricular opportunities for young people wanting to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Since its launch, Pauline has opened over 200 branches across the UK.
In his statement this week, Pauline’s husband also praised all the work Pauline has done for young people.
‘Pauline has been an inspiration’
He said: “Pauline has been an inspiration through her work in the film and TV industry, her charity endeavours and as the founder of the very successful Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA).”
Steve then concluded: “Her talent, dedication, and vision [has] touched countless lives and will continue to do so through the legacy of her work.”
