Peter Andre shares his heartbreak over ‘taboo’ health issue

'I felt like I couldn’t talk to anyone'

Despite his seemingly idyllic family life and successful career, singer Peter Andre has opened up about a very personal issue that many keep hidden.

In his weekly column with OK!, the singer discussed how mental health can impact anyone, regardless of their status or success.

His revelation came as he reflected on the struggles he faced in the past.

Peter Andre news: Star shares fears for his kids

The singer spoke about his mental health after the Princess of Wales’ brother James Middleton spoke about his battle with depression recently.

“I think it’s so important for men to be able to talk about their feelings and struggles. People find it hard to believe that you can be a royal or a billionaire but struggle mentally. But having money doesn’t fix your mental health,” said Pete.

The 1990s, when Pete shot to fame, marked a dark period for the star as he recalled: “I remember having my first breakdown in the 1990s and the years that followed were horrific. I felt like I couldn’t talk to anyone because it was taboo. Back then, you’d go to a doctor and sometimes they wouldn’t know what to do. I never want my kids to experience that.”

The star – who is a father of four kids, Junior, Princess, Amelia and Theo – also admitted that he encourages his children to speak about their problems.

“I always encourage all my kids to be open about how they feel. All the time I’ll say: ‘Do you want to sit and talk about anything?'”

Peter Andre hits back at ‘disappointed’ fans

Meanwhile, the singer recently hit headlines after his fans openly criticised him for performing at a Conservative Party conference.

In an Instagram video, Peter was seen dancing on a table as he sang at the annual Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham.

However, many fans were disappointed with his decision to perform at the event.

“Singing at the Tory conference, thought you were better than that,” one fan wrote.

Another simply commented: “Disappointed.”

“Well, this is disappointing. That’s my childhood ruined,” a third agreed.

Peter didn’t take long to hit back. In response to an angry commenter on Instagram, the singer wrote: “I’m not political. I just love performing and was booked by TikTok. But to be fair they know how to party.”
