Peter Andre, 51, and his wife Emily are currently expecting their third child together.
Emily Andre, 34, is coming to the end of her final trimester and, due to the birth being just around the corner, is suffering from painful Braxton-Hicks contractions.
Doctor Emily has now taken to social media to detail her experiences, just days after Peter Andre showed his followers the pregnancy struggle his wife was suffering. However, Emily is reassuring those who are soon to have babies that this is a normal part of pregnancy.

The soon to be mum-of-three said to her followers: “After Pete posted a video of me having a Braxton-Hicks contractions last week, I thought it was a good chance to share some more information about what they are and simple things you can do to help.

“So they are where the womb contracts and relaxes and not everyone has them in pregnancy. If you do have them they are a normal part of pregnancy and they tend to occur later on.
“So for me I’ve certainly have had a lot of Braxton-Hicks and they catch me out when I’m least expecting it.”
Emily went on to say: “It does vary from pregnancy, typically you’d expect them not to be painful, but uncomfortable. Certainly for me it feels like my body turns into a football when it happens.”

The doctor also explained the difference between labour contractions and Braxton-Hicks contractions. She told social media users: “The key things to look out for are, if they are random, infrequent and irregular; they wouldn’t increase in intensity.
“Remember, always contact your midwife or maternity unit for advice if you are not sure whether you are having Braxton-Hicks or labour contractions.
“If you have any vaginal bleeding, your waters break, you have strong/painful contractions every five minutes that last 30-60 seconds, or you have any concerns about your baby’s movements.”
The NHS website explains: “You may have had ‘practice contractions’ during your pregnancy, particularly towards the end. These tightenings are called Braxton-Hicks contractions, which may feel uncomfortable, but are usually painless.
“Braxton Hicks contractions generally do not last that long, do not happen very frequently and do not build up.
“Your contractions tend to become longer, stronger and more frequent as your labour progresses. During a contraction, your womb muscles tighten and the pain increases. If you put your hand on your abdomen, you’ll feel it getting harder. When the muscles relax, the pain fades and you’ll feel the hardness ease.”
In October 2023, Emily and Peter announced they were expecting their third child together.
The couple, who have been married since 2015, already share son Theo and daughter Amelia.
