The second series of Peter Kay’s Car Share ended on something of a cliffhanger.
The ‘will they? won’t they’ question seemed to be answered with a ‘not yet’.
Throughout this run, Kayleigh has been growing increasingly frustrated that she and John haven’t moved their relationship to the next level.
And she eventually blurted out her true feelings – in the car, of course!
When he accused her of living in a fairy tale, she replied: “I don’t live in a fairy tale, John. I just want to be happy.”
She then told him: “I can’t waste any more time John, I don’t have time to waste. I’m getting out.”

When he asked, “Of where?”, she told him: “Out of your car and your life.
“Because I love you, John, and it kills me you don’t feel the same.”
Awww.
We then saw John climbing over stalled cars in a traffic jam to go and claim his woman – but then the camera shot back to the supermarket manager still sitting in the car fantasising about what could be.
Frustrating. But we have even more annoying news: there will be no series three!
You can go off a person, y’know, Peter Kay!
The comedian told BBC Radio Manchester when asked if John and Kayleigh would ever get together: “There’s not going to be a series three so it won’t ever happen.

“No Christmas special.”
“You’ve got to get out while the going’s good.
“There’s only so much you can do in a car and the last thing you want to do is ruin it because I think it’s a lovely thing.
“It’s been wonderful working with Sian, who’s one of my closest friends in the world.
“We have a good laugh but I think sometimes you’ve got to just leave things.
“You need good ideas – that’s the problem. You need good strong stories.
“A lot of series tend to go on for one series too many, especially with comedies, and I think people say ‘ooh, it’s gone off, that’.
“If you’re struggling and you just get a sense when you’re writing that you might be running out of ideas, that’s when I think you should walk away.”
Tragedy!
