Phillip Schofield is a man of many talents – TV presenter, charity fundraiser, occasional friend of gophers – but we never had him down as a family-planning expert.
The 55-year-old This Morning host was chatting to Doctor Foster star Suranne Jones on today’s show, when the conversation turned to babies.
Suranne, 39, has a one-year-old son with her husband, magazine editor Laurence Akers, and revealed that the couple are considering adding to their family.
At that point, something came over Phillip and he began excitedly trying to plan the actress’s calendar – even telling her when she and Laurence should have sex!
Suranne laughed: “You want to work this out for me, don’t you?”
And the silver-haired host didn’t deny it. “Well, we were chatting in the break and I’ve figured it out,” he replied.
Looking as embarrassed as we felt, Suranne looked around the studio and said: “Have a word with my husband. He’s here somewhere.”
But Phillip had the bit between his teeth now, and persisted: “You’ve got quite a lot to do, and I would say that it’s going to be quite difficult until Christmas next year.”

Suranne then tried to veer away from Phillip’s line of questioning by going into detail about her theatre commitments in 2018, one of which is a part in a psychological thriller called Frozen at London’s Haymarket Theatre.
However, it was Suranne who froze in her seat as Phillip crossed the line into downright awkwardness.
He told his guest: “So I think we’re probably looking at sex in November of next year.”
Yep, he went there. And his co-presenter Holly Willoughby wasn’t far behind, adding: “Put it in the diary!”
The second series of Doctor Foster starts tonight, and Suranne revealed on This Morning that it’s going to be darker than ever.
But the actress didn’t just have the gritty storylines to deal with. She was also forced to take her son – whose name she’s kept private – onto the set after he became poorly.
She told Phillip and Holly: “He was six months old and he got ill. He had snot coming out of his nose, and he had hand, foot and mouth disease, so I had to take him to work.”

Phillip didn’t give any advice on how to deal with the illness, but we wouldn’t have been surprised if he had.
He seems to be an expert in just about everything else!
