Piers Morgan has said he spoke to Ant McPartlin about comments he made about the presenter.
The Good Morning Britain star had complained about the NTAs honouring the Saturday Night Takeaway presenter, saying he had been “walking the dog for a year” and “sitting on his backside”.
A story published in the Mirror recently claimed that TV presenter Ant, 43, had sent Piers, 53, a ‘furious’ email over Piers’ comments.
And now, Piers has insisted that everything is cool between the two stars after Ant gave him a call to clear the air.
Piers told the Sunday Mirror: “When the story came out, he gave me a call and said: ‘I want you to know there is no hard feelings my end. We are still pals.’
“I said: ‘Absolutely, mate. I don’t want to fall out over this.'”
Piers had questioned on Good Morning Britain whether Ant and his presenting partner Declan Donnelly should be in line for a National Television Award when Ant had been “walking the dog for a year” and “sitting on his backside”.
Ant was said to be none too happy about the comments.

A source told The Mirror earlier this month: “Ant sent [Piers] an email saying he takes his recovery very seriously and he didn’t appreciate Piers belittling it by saying all he has done is walk the dog.
“Ant did work last year – he presented nearly the whole series of [Saturday Night] Takeaway and all the audition shows of BGT.
“He then worked hard on his recovery. To suggest that all he did was walk the dog insults everyone who is in recovery or suffering from mental health issues.”
However, Piers claims that his comments weren’t meant to offend the Geordie star.
“I was teasing, really, and maybe over-egged it,” he told the Sunday Mirror. “Now we just move on. We are still mates – it is fine.”
