GMB viewers over the moon as Piers Morgan returns after they feared he’d been ‘sacked’

A lot of viewers missed him

Presenter Piers Morgan is back on Good Morning Britain and his fans couldn’t be happier.

The controversial host, 54, returned to the ITV daytime programme this morning (04.11.19) after a two-week break.

Reacting to having him back on their screens, viewers rushed to Twitter to tell Piers the show was unwatchable without him.

One said: “Piers, lots of us missed you, we will now watch GMB again.”

Another tweeted: “Piers is back! GMB is watchable again! #goodmorningbritain.”

A third wrote: “Excellent! Will make a dull show watchable again now you’re back! Go Piers.”

Asked by the official GMB Twitter account if they had missed Piers, someone else tweeted: “Yep, yep and yep. No one replaces #Piers and #GMB knows it.”

At one point during today’s episode, the hosts chatted with Lorraine Kelly briefly about her daytime chat show.

She told Susanna Reid, via video link: “You know what, Susanna, we kind of missed him, didn’t we?”

But when Piers’ co-host told her she hadn’t missed him, Lorraine pressed on: “Isn’t it actually quite good to have him back?”

Oh I missed you so much. So so much I cried.

Susanna insisted: “No. You missed him, Lorraine!”

Piers, seemingly enjoying the moment, chipped in: “Lorraine, tell me more about how much you missed me…”

The Lorraine host replied: “Oh I missed you so much. So so much I cried. No it is, it’s actually really good to have you back. It really is.”

During his break from GMB, Piers spent some time in Los Angeles with his family, as he often does.

But it wasn’t all a relaxing jaunt in the sun, as Piers revealed he received a terrifying warning to evacuate his LA home due to the “horrific” wildfires raging through California.

The presenter posted a photo of two evacuation alerts he received on his phone at 4am, warning him that the blazing fires were less than three miles away.

He shared a screenshot of the messages for his concerned Instagram followers and told them in the caption: “Yikes. Rather discomforting messages to wake up to. These fires are horrific, hard to explain to people back home how big and savage they get here in California.”

Last week, having landed back in Britain ahead of his return to GMB, Piers was forced to expose the “shocking abuse” he endures on social media.

He lashed out at online trolls in a late night tweet, writing: “One day I’ll play the victim about the shocking abuse I get on Twitter – especially at this time of night – to secure some self-promoting, commercially beneficial publicity, but for now it makes me chuckle.”

His return comes after some viewers feared Piers had been sacked following a petition which called for him to be fired over comments he made about gender recently.

One person said on Twitter last month: “Have I missed it? Has Piers been sacked?” while another wrote: “Hurry back people think you have been sacked!”

A third asked: “Are you still working on GMB or have you been sacked??????”
