GMB: Piers Morgan slept only ‘four hours’ a night during the first wave of coronavirus

Piers says it's been a difficult time for all

GMB host Piers Morgan says he “struggled” during the first wave of coronavirus and slept only “four hours” a night.

The presenter, 55, opened up about his COVID anxiety on today’s programme (Monday September 21).

What did Piers Morgan say on GMB?

Piers and co-host Susanna Reid were discussing her interview in The Telegraph newspaper at the weekend.

In it, she admitted that she had terrible nightmares during the first lockdown.

It was then that Piers shared his own experiences of COVID-anxiety.

I remember having very weird, striking, vivid nightmares.

After jokingly asking if her nightmares came after she started working with him, he got serious in a hurry.

“I remember having very weird, striking, vivid nightmares,” he admitted.

What else did Piers Morgan say?

“I would normally go back [home] and try and have a bit of sleep, and I couldn’t during that whole period.”

He continued: “I remember going whole days just living off four or five hours max a night for months on end.

“We weren’t alone. People were having a much tougher time than we were.”

How was Susanna Reid affected?

Susanna carried on the discussion.

She said: “That was the thing, this isn’t about me personally being affected, although of course our team has been affected and we were all very concerned about that.

“It was just that overwhelming sense that we were in the grip of something that was very frightening. All we could do was present the news to you.”

Piers rages at the Health Secretary

Piers, who’s never afraid to share his forthright views on the virus, raged at Health Secretary Matt Hancock last week.

Mr Hancock, along with other members of the cabinet, has refused to appear on GMB to answer questions.

The GMB host said it is particularly disappointing as he believes Kate Garraway would greatly benefit from speaking to him.

Kate’s husband, Derek Draper, have been in hospital battling COVID-19 since March.
