Is Piers Morgan getting an itchy bum on the Good Morning Britain sofa? It certainly appears so, looking at a couple of things he’s said live on air this week.
On Monday, he claimed it “may all be over” after he made a mistake during – ironically – his report on the Oscars blunder, and the morning host found himself in the unfamiliar position of apologising for getting something wrong.
The following day, he made a further two mistakes – and then suggested he might soon be off!
Monday’s Oscars gaffe came as the presenter, sitting alongside Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins, was discussing the huge error at the awards ceremony.
Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling’s hot favourite La La Land was mistakenly announced as the recipient of Best Picture when, in fact, Moonlight was the actual winner.
There was a mix-up with envelopes, seemingly – investigations are still ongoing!

Piers made his own mistake by calling La La Land’s producer by the wrong name.
And the weirdest thing happened – for sorry really is the hardest word in the journo’s vocabulary…
The 51-year-old said: “I’ve got an apology. You know when you get into the territory of correcting people, live on air, and you’re not 100% sure, you’re kinda 99.9% sure?
“So I just harangued my director, Erron Gordon, live on air for trying to tell me the producer of La La Land was in fact Jason Horowitz, and in fact it is Jordan Horowitz.”
He added: “So now I have to do a really uncomfortable thing. I have to apologise to my director Erron Gordon, which is something I never thought I’d do.
“I don’t want to do it.”
Co-host Susanna Reid jokingly said: “It’s like we’re reenacting the Oscars blunder live on air this morning.”
Piers replied: “I’m owning my mistake.
“It may be all over, there’s no way back from this.”
You’d think Piers would have swept that one right under the carpet, but on the show the next morning he made reference to the Oscars mess-up again, as he unleashed a fresh mistake.
The GMB host was chided by Lorraine stand-in Christine Bleakley – now better-known by her married moniker Lampard – for pronouncing her name incorrectly.
He wasn’t done blooping, either. During an interview with the stars of movie A Street Cat Named Bob, he referred to it as A Street CAR named Bob.
The fluffing floodgates have been opened, it appears.
Was it getting to Piers? Well, when he was joined by Richard Arnold and there was a suggestion about HIM leaving the show, Susanna told the chirpy showbiz editor: “You’re not going anywhere.”
Quick as a flash, Piers chimed in: “I might.”
Was it just a throwaway comment? He’s pretty good at making noise just for the hell of it, after all. Or is he dropping warnings?
Come on, Mr Morgan, we all make mistakes now and again. It doesn’t always mean we have to leave our jobs. And we’d MISS YA!
