Police called to Boris Johnson’s home following ‘blazing row’ with girlfriend Carrie Symonds

A neighbour was concerned for her welfare

Boris Johnson is now in a two-horse race with Jeremy Hunt to become the leader of the Conservative party, so he’ll doubtless be disappointed about the scandalous headlines about his private life today.

It’s been reported that police attended the London the MP shares with girlfriend Carrie Symonds, 31, after a neighbour’s concerned midnight call following alleged banging, slamming and plate-smashing.

The Guardian reports Miss Symonds was heard telling Johnson to “get off me” and “get out of my flat”.

The PR girl is alleged to have shouted that Johnson, 55, had ruined a sofa with red wine at their home in Camberwell, South London.

“You have no care for money or anything.”

He then apparently refused to leave the flat and shouted “get off my [bleep] laptop” before a loud crashing noise was heard.

The neighbour – who recorded the altercation – attempted to check up on the couple.

They told The Guardian: “I [was] hoping that someone would answer the door and say ‘We’re okay. I knocked three times and no one came to the door.”

The incident was recorded at 12.20am on Friday, as two police cars and a van attended the scene.

A Metropolitan Police statement said: “At 00:24hrs on Friday, 21 June police responded to a call from a local resident in the SE5 area of Camberwell.

“The caller was concerned for the welfare of a female neighbour. Police attended and spoke to all occupants of the address, who were all safe and well.

“There were no offences or concerns apparent to the officers and there was no cause for police action.”

Boris Johnson’s spokesperson is offering no comment.
