During his time on Coronation Street Nigel Havers’ character Lewis Archer romanced both Audrey Roberts and Gail Rodwell, and conned £40,000 out of the latter.
And now he’s revealed he’d love to return to the role – if only to make things up to the women he wronged.
Smooth-talking Lewis arrived on the scene as an escort, who fell in love with Audrey, but later cheated on her and fled Weatherfield with stolen cash from Peter Barlow’s bookies.
He returned after a stint away and vowed to make it up to Audrey and prove he was a good man.
But things soured when Gail decided he wasn’t good enough for her mum.
Putting together an elaborate plan to get back at Gail, he ended up seducing her and convincing her they should run off to start a new life together in Italy.

Gail fell for it hook line and sinker and even took out a £40,000 loan to get them started – which Lewis promptly did a runner with, explaining his vicious plot in a DVD message he left for brokenhearted Gail.
Speaking on his episode of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories on ITV, Nigel has confirmed he’d gladly reprise his role in the long-running soap.
“I would love to, actually,” he told the host. “I do owe Gail 40 grand at the moment and I think as an honourable man, I’d like to pay that back.
“It was wonderful doing the show,” he added.
But would anyone be delighted to see him?

Both Audrey and Gail were left devastated by his betrayals, and things haven’t exactly been swimmingly for the Platts since then.
Gail’s had yet another husband, Michael, who died of a heart attack after Pat Phelan refused to help him.
And that’s not to mention all the Kylie Platt drama, who was brutally murdered on the cobbles.
So Gail’s currently a husband down, and is also soon to be a son down when Nick leaves the street. Actor Ben Price revealed he was quitting the show last month, but his exit won’t air until the spring.
Maybe that’s the perfect time to bring Lewis back into their lives?
