Emmerdale explored the subject of Liv Flaherty’s asexuality last night – when she shared a surprise kiss with best friend Gabby Thomas!
Liv called Valentine’s Day a “puke fest” but she still asked Jacob out on behalf of Gabby. She told him they’d be at the Pavilion later if he wanted to come – leaving Jacob sure it was Liv who liked him.
Later, the girls shared a heart-to-heart.
“Who would you pick?” Gabby asked her friend. “Any lad, any year. Go.”
But Liv just shrugged.
“No one,” she said.
“You mean no one out of the boys,” Gabby said.
But Liv was sure.
“Boys, girls – no one.”
Gabby, though, wasn’t giving up.
“You’re overthinking stuff,” she told her pal. “You’ve just got to relax and let it happen.”
And that’s when Liv kissed Gabby!

Gabby was shocked but told her friend if she liked her it was okay. But Liv said she didn’t – and legged it.
She even ran off when Jacob -thinking it was Liv who’d asked him out, not Gabby – handed over a ‘puke-fest’ card.
The fans loved it – saying it was a brave soap first to explore teen asexuality.

“Liv & Gabby. Such friendship goals,” wrote one fan. “Love a asexual storyline,” said another. “Is it a soap first?”
Another simply used smiley emojis to show how much they loved the girls together.
