A 40-year-old man has been arrested after he took his pregnant ‘wife’ to hospital.
Staff raised the alarm after believing that she was only 12-years-old.
The girl was apparently accompanied by the man, along with a woman who said she was the youngster’s mother-in-law.
It has started as an ‘innocent’ hospital visit, as the man brought in his 20-year-old wife so that she could have a 12 week scan.
Medics at Xuzhou City Central Hospital, in East China’s Jiangsu Province, reported the man to police after they found that his pregnant ‘wife’ was no older than 12-years-old.
The man was upset that the authorities were getting involved and demanded that the girl was seen by doctors.
A staff member said: “It’s obvious she is just a child, and certainly not anywhere near 20 years old.”
The man insisted, apparently saying: “I took her here to be examined – just do your job.
“Stop asking so many questions.”
Staff tried to find out from the girl some personal details, including her age but she didn’t speak any Mandarin.

It turned out that the young girl didn’t even possess Chinese ID.
This has raised suspicions that she was bought as a foreign bride from neighbouring Vietnam.
Further investigations are being made as authorities try to determine her origin and the facts behind her being there.
