Apart from a slightly cheesy tweet, both Cheryl and Liam Payne have stayed silent surrounding the reasons why they split up this summer.
But now the Girls Aloud star has opened up about the end of her two-year relationship, hinting that it was too soon for her toyboy boyfriend, Liam, to settle down and start a family.

The 35-year-old explained in a new interview with The Sunday Times Style magazine how Liam initially “wanted to settle down and have a family and not do the solo thing. Then we encouraged him to to that. And then it didn’t work out”.
Cheryl – who also revealed that her One Direction ex wanted children from the age of 16 – was asked if Liam realised he didn’t want to start a family after all.
She replied: “You’ll have to ask him that.”
The former couple – who first met on The X Factor when Liam was just 14 – split up a few months after their son’s first birthday while the 1D star was spending a lot of time abroad on his solo music.
Cheryl suggested that was difficult for him, saying: “You have to switch your head onto pop star and then switch it back to daddy.”
She also admitted that “maybe, maybe” Liam felt excluded from her close relationship with Bear.

Cheryl has been on the interview trail this week as she promotes her new single, Love Made Me Do It .
On Monday, the 35-year-old shared a behind-the-scenes shot from her new music video.

At the weekend, the singer – who has been divorced twice – confirmed she had no plans to ever date again following her latest break up, as she considers Bear to be the “man of her dreams.”

She said: “I feel full. My heart’s full, I’m fulfilled. I’m not looking for anything anymore. I’m whole. I’ve got the man of my dreams.”
Cheryl also revealed she still sleeps in a bed with Bear, 19 months, predicting she’d get “mum-shamed” for doing it.
